Song: Don't Fear the Reaper
Band: Blue Oyster Cult
Standard (E) tuning. Keep the bass part audible, but let the guitar
have it's fun. You can have fun in the solo section.
Intro/Instrumental Fills:
G -----------------------------
D -----------------------------
A -----------------------------
E 5-5-5-0-3-3-3-0-1-1-1-0-3-3-3
G ---------------------------
D ---------------------------
A ---------------------------
E 5--5--5--1--1--3--3--5-5-5-...
"All our time's have come..."
**The part above repeats every time they sing in the verses. "All our
times have come" "Here but now they're gone", and similar lines. When
they're not singing, play the intro bit. It likes to hit on the last
word of the phrase.
G ------------------------
D ------------------------
A ------------------------
E -1------------0--------5-
"Seasons don't fear the reaper"
G ----------------------------------
D ----------------------------------
A ----------------------------------
E -----------1---------0------5--3--
"Nor do the wind, the sun or rain"
Then you get to bore yourself with this until the "La"s with this! It
gets pretty boring. I hate this part.
G ---------------------
D ---------------------
A ---------------------
E 1-3-5-3-1-3-5-3-1-3-5...
The "La"s are the same Part as the "All our times have come" bit.
After you're done with that, you can go through this again for the
second verse, and after you're done with that, you're allowed some real
fun.
After the cute little guitar solo, the Bass has a killer solo. I
usually do it with a good hard finger picking, but slapping sounds
better. If you decide to play this with some friends, make sure that
your drummer likes you, and is flexible. Half of the fun in the solo
is head-banging to keep your drummer on your beat. Another tip...
CRANK IT.
G -------------------------
D ----------------------6-5
A -----------------2-5-----
E -1--3-4--3-1--3----------
That repeats itself 4 times, then you have time to turn your bass back
down, while the guitar comes back in, and finishes it off.
G -------------------
D -------------------
A -------------------
E -1--1-3-----1--1-3-
After you're done with that, you come in, do the entire first part
again once, and then you get more fun at the end, just because the
first instrumental part is probably getting boring.
G -------------------
D -------------------
A -------7-5---------
E -5-5-3-----1-1-3-3-
Repeat that X number of times, and that's that.
Enjoy! I got this song off of another tab site (or rather my friends
did for me) and we discovered it was horribly wrong. Now that I have
righted that, I pass it on to the world! If I screwed up, and you can
help me fix it, or you just want to yell at me for butchering the song,
my E-mail is Linds0228@AOL.com. Keep Bassin'
