This song is called 'Bebe le strange' by Heart. I'm not sure but I think this is how they do it. It may be an octave lower though. (open E string=12 fret so if I wrote play the 12th fret on the E string it might be just an open E) Try both out and see what you think. I think it's played higher though because when they are transitioning into the prechorus there's a big drop in the bass sound. Anyway try this.
