Song: To Defy The Laws Of Tradition
Artist: Primus
Album: Frizzle Fry, Videoplasty
Tabbed By: Reynold Bot particleman02@aol.com
Okay I am seeing lots of tabs for this song. Most of them are pretty much
along the lines of the song, but either they are missing parts or have
wrong parts. I watched Videoplasty over and over again to get the exact
notes for this song, and I can say that my tab is 99% correct.

Intro Part 3: There are two ways to do this. This is the first way:
G:-6-7-8-|
D:-6-7-8-|
A:-4-5-6-|
E:-------|

But I personally like to play it this way, I think it sounds better
and is easier to play:
G:-7-8-9-|
D:-7-8-9-|
A:-------|
E:-------|

Verses: He does use some variation of this, and as an intro he slides all
the way up the E string a couple times. On the first half of the
verse I noticed on the video that he does make that last note an
octave, shown below.
G:-------------6-6-6---6----------------6-6-6--6-7-6-|
D:-------------6-6-6---6----------------6-6-6--6-7-6-|
A:-----------4---------4--------------4--------------|
E:-0-4h6-4h6---------------0-4h6-4h6-----------------|

Verse Variation 1;
G:-------------6-6-6---------------------6-6-6--6-7-6-|
D:-------------6-6-6---11\---------------6-6-6--6-7-6-|
A:-----------4---------11\-------------4--------------|
E:-0-4h6-4h6-----------------0-4h6-4h6----------------|

During one of the instrumental parts instead of strumming the last
part of the verse he does a bunch of slapping on the E and A string.
I don't know what he is exactly playing so you can go nuts right here.
Chorus: Les does a two-handed tapping thing right here. Use your fret
hand to do the low notes on the A and E string, and use your
plucking hand to do the high notes on the D string. Basically
you just tap the high notes however you want, but as Les begins
to say the lyrics louder and louder you should go up the
fretboard more to get higher notes. Just listen to what he
is playing to understand.
G:----------------|

A:---6--7---------|
E:--------7--6--5-|
And to end the song are these notes again, do them whichever way you prefer.
G:-6-7-8-| G:-7-8-9-|
D:-6-7-8-| D:-7-8-9-|
A:-4-5-6-| A:-------|
E:-------| E:-------|

I am telling you that the way I play it is 99% correct. I may have goofed
up a little bit in the tab, so if it seems wrong, listen to the song and
use your best judgement. The timing on this song is a little hard too, so
just try your best. Once you get this song down, it is a LOT of fun to
play and a real crowd pleaser at shows, regardless of whether they've heard
the song before or not. Good Luck!
