intro: A G, then D G (x6)

(Hugh plays a palm muted Dsus2 chord over the D and G of both the intro and the verses)

D G
How many times have you woken up and prayed for the rain?
D G
How many times have you seen the papers apportion the blame?
A G A G
Who gets to say, who gets the work and who gets to play?
A G A
I was always told at school everybody should get the same

(over the A and G sections of the verses, the following is played:)

   A G
E|-5-5-5-7-7-7-7-7-|-3-3-3-5-5-5-5-5-|
B|-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-|-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-|
G|-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-|-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-|
D|-----------------|-----------------|
A|-----------------|-----------------|
E|-----------------|-----------------|

(on the last A of the above verse the A part is played twice but on the second
time (where the G should be) instead of going from fret 5 to fret 7 on the high
E string extend your pinky to the 9th fret then back to the 7th - listen to the
recording to see what I mean (tip: it might help to barre the chord before extending
your finger to minimise damage!))

D G
How many times have you been told, if you don't ask you don't get?
D G
How many liars have taken your money, your mother said you shouldn't bet?
A G A E
And who has the fun, is it always the man with the gun?
G Bm A
Someone must have told him if you work too hard you can sweat

Bm D
There's always the sun
G Bm
There's always the sun
D Em G A
Always, always, always the sun

D G
How many times have the weathermen told you stories that made you laugh?
            D G
Y'know it's not unlike the politicians and the leaders when they do things by half
A G A E
And who gets the job of pushing the knob?
G Bm A
That sort of responsibility you draw straws for, if you're mad enough

Bm D
There's always the sun
G Bm
There's always the sun
D Em G A
Always, always, always the sun
Bm D
There's always the sun
G Bm
There's always the sun
